The John Buckley Track & Field League of 2014 kicks off at the CIT Track on Monday, May 12th, at 7.30pm. This is a programme of six graded meetings for Athletes male and female over 16 years on the day of competition; full details are available on the Cork AAI website. These graded meetings are open to athletes of all levels of ability.
Entry on the first night is free to club members – just turn up and enter. Track events will, if necessary, be divided into separate races to ensure they are suitable for all standards. Later in the series, we plan to incorporate a club championship race with prizes for the winners at the different grades. To this end, we’ll use the results of the MILE run on the first evening to grade athletes for the club championship.
Athletes performing consistently over the series are also in with a chance of winning a Cash prize at the next County Board International Awards Night. Club member Niamh Roe was a deserved winner of just such a prize at the 2014 Awards night in January.
