Cathal O Donovan to represent Ireland

Cathal O Donovan won a Duathlon in Limerick last weekend and afterwards it was announced that Cathal was selected to represent Ireland in the European Duathlon Championships in Holland. Best of luck Cathal!

Talk by Claire McCarthy

Claire McCarthy, who represented Ireland at the recent European Cross Country Championships is giving a talk on Wednesday 29th February, 2012 for all of our female athletes. The talk will take place in the Cork County Board Building next to the track at CIT. It will start at 18.45 after the Wednesday training session. Claire has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share in what should be a very interesting talk.

Annual Dinner 9th March, 2012

The club annual dinner and awards night takes place at Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig on Friday 9th March. Tickets are a recession busting €20 each for what promises to be a great night. Tickets will be available from committee members and at all club training sessions over the next few weeks. It’s post Ballycotton so no excuses! Hope to see you all there!

All Ireland Intermediate & Masters Cross Country Championships

Medals galore yet again as Martina Kiely took silver with a fantastic run in the All Ireland Intermediate Cross Country Championships in Boyle, Co. Roscommon. Martina also led St. Finbarr’s ladies to team silver as Karina Teahan, Valerie Vaughan and Denise Twohig all scored for a fantastic team performance in which all members ran brilliantly. Our representatives on the ladies county team also won silver.

In the Masters event Mary Sweeney took silver in the F50 category while Eamon McEvoy was 4th in M55.

Well done to all who ran so well on the day.

EGM Wednesday 8th February

The club will hold an EGM on Wednesday 8th February, 2012 at 7pm in the County Board Room adjacent to the track in CIT.

This is a very mportant meeting to discuss the future development of the club and we would encourage all members to attend so that they can have their input and also to be aware of what the future plans for the club are. The room is in the building next to stand at the CIT track.

All Ireland Intermediate and Masters Cross Country

Best of luck to all of our athletes taking part in the All Ireland Intermediate and Masters Cross country in Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle Co. Roscommon on Sunday 5th February, 2012.
The ladies Intermediate Team is Martina Kiely, Karina Teahan, Valerie Vaughan, Geraldine O Shea, Denise Twohig, Kathleen Kelly, Esther Murphy and Rebecca McEvoy. The ladies o50 team is Mary Sweeney, Mary Murphy, Marion Lyons and Amanda Stavrou.
The mens Intermediate team is Cathal O Donovan, Daniel Stiegler, Michael Houlihan, Paul Gallagher, Rory O Sullivan and Gerry Cronin. The mens o50 team is Eamon McEvoy and Dan Kennedy.

The county board bus for this event leaves St. Patrick’s Quay (behind the Metropole) at 12.00 on Saturday.
