Big Turnout At The Munster Senior & Novice Roads 2012

The BARRS turned out in force for the recent Munster Senior & Novice Roads Championships, which took place on the back roads around Ballyanly on Sunday, March 9th last. A total of 37 club members turned up at the Inniscarra GAA grounds to collect their race numbers. This was the biggest club turnout for an AAI event since the County Novice & Masters Cross Country at Conna in 2011. And when you consider that Conna was a combined Masters event, the figure is truely remarkable!

The mass effort by the club was fully rewarded when the Novice Ladies A & B teams came home in first and second place, while the Novice Men were runner’s up. A big well done to all those who participated and a big thanks to Inniscarra GAA and the race organisers for the excellent, and well received, post race refreshments.

Annual Dinner 9th March – Training Cancelled

As our Annual Dinner is being held in the Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig on Friday the 9th March the club training session at CIT track is cancelled that evening. This is to facilitate hair and make up appointments – and I think the ladies need some time to get ready too!

Ballycotton 10, 4th March, 2012

Well done to everyone who took part and ran so well on a very windy day. The wind on the way out for the first 5 and a bit miles was very strong but plenty of people still ran a very good race and posted very good times. Plenty of people enjoyed a few bevies in the Sextant last night too!

Cathal O Connell was 2nd M45, Eamon McEvoy was 1st M55, Mick Dunne was 2nd M65.
In the ladies Mary Sweeney ran her best ever time in Ballycotton (64.54) to win F50.

Ballycotton 10

Best of luck to everyone competing in Ballycotton on Sunday (4th March). Enjoy it! We will be meeting in the Sextant Bar that night from 8pm on. All the talk will be all about great runs/pb’s/where it all went wrong and that last torturous mile and a half so it promises to be another great Barr’s gathering! Mugs are optional.
