Munster Intermediate, Junior XC & Juvenile Inter-County Relays, Enniskeane, West Cork, Sun 07-Feb-2016, 12pm

Friday, February 5th, 2016

A lot of water’s flowed under the bridge since we gathered at the bhFear for the County Novice on the first Sunday back in October 2015. Even more of the stuff passed over the bridge, through fields, through outhouses, into barns, into cellars and into people’s living rooms. Boy, that Santa Claus idiot really screwed up this year! How could anybody possibly misconstrue Nollaig Sionainne for Nollaig Shona?  Well, for those of you who’ve managed to keep your heads above water, this weekend sees the Munster AAI bandwagon roll into the heart of West Cork for the Muster Intermediate XC, the last throw of the dice for the 2015 XC season, one last opportunity to muddy the waters as they say.

This event is organised and hosted by Doheny Athletic Club. Changing facilities will be available at the local GAA club. The Munster Juvenile Inter-County Relays will start at 12 noon followed by the Juniors  with the Intermediate Women and Men bringing up the rear.

Well, the gun’s off for Election 2016 and the Pols are about to embark on their own Cross Country odyssey. Now, here’s a novel idea for expanding the economy, try selling snow to the Eskimos! You may very well laugh at the idea, but the people who matter reckon it couldn’t be any harder than selling water to us.

Dungarvan 10 Sunday 31st January, 2016

Thursday, February 4th, 2016

A sizeable contingent of 37 Barr’s runners went to Dungarvan on Sunday for the first major 10 miler of the year. Some great performances were produced on a tough day with a very strong wind and some tough drags at different stages.

Michael Morgan led us all home with an excellent 6th place finish in a pb of 55 minutes flat. The men’s team were 2nd in the Club prize while the ladies team of Karina Teahan, Niamh Cronin and Mary Sweeney were 1st in the John Treacy Club Challenge! Karina was also 1st F35 and Mary was 1st F55. Paul Duggan was 2nd M45. We had 9 runners under 60 minutes and a further 18 who broke 70 minutes.
