Carrigtwohill 5km Road Race, Wed 20-Jul-2011, 8pm

Presented by East Cork AC in association with Carrigtwohill Community Council, the second running of the Carrigtwohill 5km Road Race takes place on Wednesday evening the 20-Jul-2011 at 8pm. The race is run in and around the grounds of Barryscourt Castle, which is located about 300m or so south of the Carrigtwohill slip roads on the main N25 Cork-Waterford route.

The course is essentially two loops of a triangular circuit located outside the castle grounds. Runners exit the castle grounds for the main loop via one road and exit the loop to return to the castle grounds via another. There are three minor hills along the way, but nothing to get excited about. A total of 24 BARRS members participated in last year’s inaugural race. The overall reaction of participants was very favourable, describing a well organised race around a fast course in very pleasant surroundings.

Race H.Q. is at Barryscourt Castle. Entry on the night is €7 with all the proceeds going to Carrigtwohill Community Care, Meals on Wheels & C.A.S.A. Entries will be taken between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Post race refreshments will be served in the Barryscourt Castle grounds.
