All Ireland Novice Cross Country 11th December 2011
In a fantastic performance Martina Kiely was third in the All Ireland Novice Cross Country Championship. In a close fought race Martina was in contention all the way and although edged out of the silver medal position she held on to the bronze. She won a silver however when it was confirmed that our ladies team had come second! With Karina Teahan finishing an excellent 10th, Valerie Vaughan, Louise Keane, Gillian Cotter, Orla Crosbie, Barbara Curran, Una Kennedy and Cait Mehigan all ran very strongly to earn a great All Ireland silver medal. Well done everyone!!
In a mens race that was highly competitive and had a huge field our mens team finished 10th and Cathal O Donovan and Allen Whitaker both scored for the Cork team that won silver. We had 12 men competing on the day which is a huge number. Well done to all of you who ran so well on the day!
Eamon McEvoy
We would like to wish all the best to Eamon McEvoy who is retiring from his Assistant Principal position in Little Island National School. Eamon is a long standing member of the club and is the current Irish M60 5000m champion. A top runner we hope that this will result in him going even faster with all the extra training he will get in!!
